About
Just 1.5 kilometres from Narrandera’s town centre, Lake Talbot is the go-to spot for a day on the water. Whether you're into boating, canoeing or water skiing, the lake is open to all kinds of activities. It’s also next door to the Lake Talbot Water Park and Lake Talbot Tourist Park, with the Narrandera Skywalk stretching out from the banks. Each February, the lake hosts the Malibu Series Water Ski Tournament, drawing crowds of water sport fans.
Once part of Bundidgerry Creek, a natural flood channel of the Murrumbidgee River, Lake Talbot now holds a special place in the heart of our region. Back in 1924, during the early days of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, an unexpected breach in the canal’s northern bank flooded the surrounding plain. Instead of letting it go to waste, Town Clerk William Talbot saw an opportunity. He rallied the local council to keep the flooded area and transform it into what we now know as Lake Talbot.
